We continue to pursue our court challenges to preserve Princeton’s historic rail link to the Junction. Despite court setbacks in favor of Princeton University as developer, Save the Dinky established in our contract case that the University did not have the unilateral right to move the station. According to the contract ruling, the decision was NJTransit’s all along. But, NJ Transit made a private arrangement with the University and avoided a public hearing that would have required it to justify the plan with evidence that it was in the best interests of commuters. Our two cases now pending focus on NJ Transit’s hearing obligations under state law and on Governor Christie’s conflict of interest on this issue. The Governor, who is an ex officio University trustee, has been an outspoken advocate of the plan to shorten the Dinky line. He appoints the Board of NJTransit and has a veto power over all of its decisions.
